Examinations and Festival!

We understand that many students like to follow an examination path as well. With this in mind we offer Students the opportunity to take the Leinster School of Music and Drama Examinations and our externally examined Examinations which they have thoroughly enjoyed. All have achieved excellent results and many have been awarded medals for outstanding performance.

Please note for those who choose to take Exams the exam preperation for the Juniors will take place in their usual Speech and Drama class time.

Intermediate & Senior Students who wish to take exams are required to attend a special Exam class (this exam preparation class has a shorter term, usually eight weeks from, roughly October to Feb, there is an extra fee for this class).

This extra class will usually take place in Swords on a Friday at 5.30-6.30am and in Blessington at 12noon -1pm for the eight weeks. This extra class is only for Intermediate and Senior Students taking exams.

Full details of exam classes e.g. start dates etc will be given during the term.

All examinations are child centred and are there to encourage the Students to do their best. See more photos in our Gallery area.

We also understand that many students would like to participate in Feisenna. For those students who wish to do so we offer the opportunity to participate in the Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland Feis. See below for details on Happy Days success in the Festival!

Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland Festival

Happy Days students joined over 1,000 participants from all over Ireland to have fun and compete in this year’s Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland Festival held in the Stillorgan Park Hotel.

A Big Congratulations to all our young performers!

Such wonderful talent and great entertainment!

Everyone who got up and performed is a
winner!

But a special mention to Lucy Phibbs! In football there is the Champions league where only the winners compete. And so too for Lucy, who having won the Senior Poetry competition made it to finals of the Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland Poetry Shield and won! Crowning a fantastic successful weekend for Happy Days. Well done Lucy Phibbs, who started with Happy Days when she was just 3!

And what can we say about Sheila Naughton! Sheila started her winning streak by taking first prize in the highly coveted Solo Senior Drama Cup. Next she took first prize in the very competitive Senior Musical Theatre competition. Then she went on get a silver medal in the Senior Poetry competition. Then a second silver medal in the Senior Shakespeare cup before she went on to take first prize in the Bernadette Garvey Cup! Well done Sheila, who started with Happy Days when she was just 5!

Grainne_Brook_and_Ciara_-_smallHappy Days Studtook home lots of other awards and had great fun participating in competitions in Musical Theatre, Create Your Own Poem, Improvisation, Solo Drama, Story Telling and Poetry Speaking. Congratulations again to all those who performed. They all had such great fun in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. One could see the Confident Edge of Happy Days shining through!

As Grainne O’Rourke, former  President of the Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland said  'the festival is getting bigger and bigger every year and the reaction from parents, students and teachers from all over Ireland was so positive
The outstanding success of the Happy Days students makes all the effort worthwhile
